GLASGOW VOLUNTEERS BRING MUSIC AND CLEAN-UPS TO GLASGOW
Scientology Volunteer Ministers team up with Cleaner Greener Pothole-Free Scotland for community clean-up and environmental action.

According to Keep Scotland Beautiful’s 2025 report, over 70% of all sites they surveyed were littered. The sites most frequently affected by litter are those in urban and city areas. Litter is an all-too-common sight amongst Scotland’s city streets.
A collaboration of volunteers decided to do something about it.
Scientology Volunteer Ministers joined forces with Cleaner Greener Pothole-Free Scotland and brought together a group of volunteers in Glasgow’s St Enoch Square to tackle litter, promote environmental responsibility and encourage local people to take pride in their surroundings.
The event brought together practical action and community engagement, with volunteers taking part in a litter pick while the distinctive yellow Scientology Volunteer Minister tents provided a base for information, activities and conversation.
Volunteers from Cleaner Greener Scotland were also on hand, carrying out community art activities and encouraging people to get involved in improving their local environment, while Scientology Volunteer Ministers were on hand to answer people’s questions and provide them with information about free online training for improving all aspects of their lives, from communication and relationships to improved study and achieving goals. And to provide an uplifting background, the organisers brought some music and energy to the streets, in the form of The Jive Aces with their own distinctive brand of Jive and Swing music.
The result was a community event combining music, environmental action, volunteering and a simple message: something can be done about it.
Litter is more than just an eyesore; it damages the very aesthetics and fabric of the community and can negatively affect those who live, work and visit an area.
“For me, I believe that the environment and nature are important, and a cleaner, greener Scotland is a basic necessity for Scotland,” says Josephine MacLeod, head of Cleaner Greener Pothole-Free Scotland.
“We want everyone to take ownership of this, and the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, the Jive Aces and all those who came out today have shown me that we can make this happen. It takes the support of the people from the grass roots.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
And that is what this event represented – a cross-section of volunteers and the community, coming together to make a better environment and to raise awareness that something can be done about it.
“The core message of our Volunteer Ministers is that Something Can Be Done About It,” said Martin Koch of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.
“And we are very happy to partner with like-minded individuals and groups to improve the environment we live in and the lives of those we meet. We have more events planned for the future.”
For everyone involved, it was a simple message: together we can make a difference if we band together and take action.
And today in Glasgow, they did it with a little music along the way.
