Dianetics Volunteers bring conversations about stress to the streets of Edinburgh

EDINBURGH, Aug. 30, 2026 -- According to a survey by A Forth With Life, in 2026 Scotland recorded daily stress rates jumping from about 16% in 2024 to over 26% in 2026. More than one in four Scots now report stress as a daily experience. This increase is the largest in the UK.

To help people in this new rising trend of increased stress, Dianetics volunteers in Edinburgh took to the street to bring conversations about stress and mental wellness directly to the community. The volunteers offered free stress tests, giving people an opportunity to learn more about the mind and explore Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard.

Dianetics presents a framework for understanding the mind and explores how the emotional impact of past experiences can continue to affect a person’s thoughts and emotions. Through stress tests, volunteers introduce the public to concepts from Dianetics and provide an opportunity to discuss experiences that may still be affecting them.

One passer-by after receiving a stress test said: “It was really good. It was really insightful.” Another said: “I enjoyed it very much and feel very relaxed. We don’t have to dwell on the past, but can continue into the future.”

One Dianetics Volunteer had this to say: 

“Giving people the opportunity to discuss their stresses and to offer them tools that can help them is something that is very valuable to many people and it’s important that people see there are ways to reduce their stress and feel better.”

Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health is used the world over and through its worldwide volunteer initiative, Dianetics provides opportunities for people to understand the mind and learn an approach for addressing unwanted reactions and emotions associated with past experiences.

Every weekend, 330 Dianetics centers in more than 50 countries offer Dianetics Seminars for those looking to learn more about Dianetics and its approach to understanding the mind.
